Aftercare & what to expect

Failure to follow after-care may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration

  • Immediately following procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be dark, bold in color & more sharply defined. The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn & sore afterwards but very minimal discomfort.

  • Don’t apply any cosmetics to the area for at least 10 days.

  • If your skin starts to feel tight & dry, you may use a small amount of ointment.  Non petroleum based ex: Aquaphor, grapeseed oil, coconut oil. Very small amount!

  • Do not rub, Pat!

  • Clean with mild soap.

  • During the initial healing period, there should be a minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin. Do not pick. Please allow the scab/dry skin to come off on its own. Picking may result in a loss of that area of the brow.

  • IMPORTANT: Once the scabs have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will shadow the tattooed hair stroke. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will reappear as your skin regenerates.

  • The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks. Be patient. Even if you think that too much color has been lost, your skin is still regenerating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength. At this point this is the true color of the tattoo. After 6-8 weeks your touch up can be done.

What not to do

  • You may shower normally, but avoid soap, shampoo or other cleansers on the treated area for at least 10 days. They could be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilize in the dermis.
  • Do not apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Cosmetics of any kind may interfere with the healing & color of the tattoo.

  • Do not use Vaseline, Neosporin, or other petroleum-based products while healing.

  • Do not apply any anti- acne products or skin lightening creams.

  • No anti-aging products or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs) Retin-A, Lactic or glycolic acids.

  • No swimming pools, Jacuzzi or other bodies of water for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid heavy sweating and gym for 10 days following procedure.

  • Do not soak your face underwater in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly in your face for 10 day.

  • If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo is healed, please inform the laser technician. Laser procedure may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

  • Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your following appointment (no sooner than 6 weeks later).

  • **Contact a Physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: Fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site to the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.
